I am a Midwestern girl with a heart in the South! Originally from Toledo, Ohio, I left that frozen tundra for destinations unknown 30+ years ago when I married my high school sweetheart. We spent 11 years in the military, traveling all over the U.S. and raising our 3 boys. I especially loved the Southeast and was thrilled when we settled in Chattanooga in 2008! As empty nest was quickly approaching, I began to search for some outlets for my new found free time. Lucky for me, Yoga East had just opened and I became one of the earliest students. From the moment I stepped into the studio, I felt completely welcomed and at ease in spite of having never done a down-dog in my entire life!
I credit yoga for literally keeping me sane when a devastating personal tragedy struck in 2011. Stepping onto my mat allowed me to escape the outside world where I had no control, and find some peace for at least that hour. The rhythm of flowing from one pose to the next, learning to breathe and focusing my breath became necessary for my mental and physical health. I investigated meditation and added that to my survival arsenal. The more I practiced yoga, the more I needed yoga and Yoga East quickly became family to me.
In 2014, I was fortunate to join the Yoga East Tribe as the Studio Manager. I love meeting and greeting both established and new clients to the studio and helping them to feel at home and become part of our Yoga East family. With about 40 classes per week and more than a dozen instructors, I am happy to put my administrative skills to use to try to help keep things running as smoothly as possible! In 2015, I became certified in yin yoga and have been enjoying teaching this style any chance that I can get. I am currently enrolled in Yoga East’s 200 hr teacher training school and am excited to add to my yoga knowledge and experiences!
