July Newsletter

In June, I got to travel up to Chicago to once again train with my teacher, Manju Jois.  It was an honor to practice (although in a somewhat limited capacity given I was 32 weeks pregnant at the time!) and spend time with such an inspirational traditional teacher; a walking yoga legend (he & his father brought Ashtanga Yoga, the parent to most power and vinyasa type classes to the west today).  One of the many things he said that stuck with me during this trip was that, as teachers, we are supposed to “Inspire and then Install.”

What does that mean?  To me, it means that I need to continue to practice and offer whatever assistance at whatever stage in life I currently am to all the students that come into Yoga East’s door (and beyond).  I want to inspire you to practice, to get to your mat, and then, once you are inspired, I want to install the necessary knowledge for you to do this practice safely and effectively.  I know each and every teacher here at Yoga East continues their education and personal practice in order to do this very same thing and I’m proud to lead this precious group of inspirational leaders.

Another way we inspire is by providing the best experience possible for each of you when you walk into the studio.  As such, you may have noticed a few changes around the studio.  We are constantly trying to improve your experience, enhance your security, and provide exceptional service.  We are continuing to make these changes, incrementally, to make sure they are (1) sustainable (2) in the best interest of all of our members.  As you can see from this newsletter, Yoga East is BUSY!  We like to stay active with our community, with each of you, and most importantly, keep us all engaged in this life changing, enhancing practice.  We know Yoga East is unique, and we LOVE that.   We LOVE to be trend setters and we want to be the GO TO place for new and exciting Yoga based events in the East Brainerd area.  I want to personally thank each of you for your continued support as we grow our roots deeper in an effort to reach our branches taller.

You may have noticed a few changes in our pricing policies and our class packages   My goal for Yoga East is to be the Premiere Yoga Studio for East Brainerd.  This means upgrading some of our equipment, increasing a few more accessories, and in general improving the overall space.  Our full schedule and all the fun events that we host and want to start hosting–they require a change.  Yoga East has historically kept prices low compared to other area studios despite having super awesome HIGHLY qualified teachers and despite offering a very wide variety of classes and, more recently, amazing events.   In order to maintain our wonderful facility and improve upon it, these changes are necessary.  I know changes can be scary and sometimes overwhelming, but I assure you that we are taking these steps slowly to help facilitate the change while still assisting in the thoughtful growth of the studio.

In addition to changes in our physical studio and class package options, we will also be changing how our memberships are priced.  Those of you that are current members, never fear!  Changes in membership prices will be for new memberships; existing members will be “grandfathered” into their memberships as long as they continue to renew.  For those of you that have been curious about memberships, now is the time to join, or ask us how!  We will be promoting our new packages and memberships this month, so keep an eye out on our social media and website to learn how you can take advantage of today’s prices while experiencing the incredible offerings we have every single day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please never hesitate to reach out to me directly.  I am available every single day. My email is  I always have several cards with my personal contact information available at the front desk, so please, grab one and call me if you ever want to ask a question about a class or the studio, or if you just want to chat!
P.S. Baby Caleb is due at the end of this month so please keep my family and me in your thoughts and prayers as the Yoga East Family grows by one more (super small) yogi.  I can’t wait to show you all photos.  (and don’t forget to hug Dawn for keeping everything running smoothly while I am slightly out of commission.)
Much Love, Respect, and Awe to you all,

The goal of Home Bound Books is to provide Elementary aged children the opportunity to have books to read in their own home.  We need you to help us!  Do you have any children’s books in good condition that your children have perhaps outgrown?  Do you have some boxes up in the attic that maybe you’ve been trying to figure out what to do with?  Well, bring them to your favorite Yoga Studio in town, and we’ll make sure our local children have the opportunity to read the books you no longer need by giving them right over to Home Bound Books.  More Details coming soon to the studio.
